Electivire -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electivire from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Electivire is a Stage 1, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 140. It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a four Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Thunder Punch, for three Energy cards, one Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 60 damage plus 60 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin, unfortunately this move does 20 damage to Electivire if you get a tails when flipping a coin.  This card's second move is called Giga Impact, for four Energy cards, two Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 170 damage, however Electivire isn't able to attack during your next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electivire is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Electabuzz into play (I reviewed Electabuzz from this set yesterday) and then evolve Electabuzz into Electivire.  If you read yesterday's review of Electabuzz, you'll know I thought it was a below average card overall, although it had an above average HP and two moves, both moves on the card were slow and below average damage wise, so I didn't recommend using it on its own.  Knowing this about Electabuzz and looking at this Electivire card, this card follows the same path, it has a great HP for a Stage 1 Pokemon and it has two moves, both slow on the attack.  This card may be worth consideration in a Lightning type deck just because it can do up to 170 damage per turn, but you'll have to retreat Electivire each turn after using Giga Impact so you can attack two turns in a row.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Despite having two heavy attack costs and a really high retreat cost, if you can get the necessary Energy on Electivire and put a Float Stone Trainer, this card has potential to do a good amount of damage.  However, with how poor Electabuzz is in this set, I would give the two Pokemon a 2 out of 5 rating combined.

Electivire -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electivire from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Electivire is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 110. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Electivire does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Knuckle Punch, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage.  Electivire's second move is called Electroslug and for three energy cards, two lightning and one colorless, this move does 90 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electivire is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Electabuzz into play (I reviewed Electabuzz from this set yesterday) and then evolve Electabuzz into Electivire.  If you read yesterday's review of Electabuzz, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card overall but one that was a little better than average if you had four Double Colorless energy cards in your deck, since it could then attack for only one energy card and do 20 damage a turn.  So knowing this about Electabuzz from this set and looking at this Electivire card, this card follows the same strategy in that if you're building a lightning type deck that also has four Double Colorless energy cards in it, this card is that much better, since it can then to 30 damage for one energy card and then you'll still need 3 energy cards for 90 damage, which is still an above average move.  So I could see using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a lightning type deck, this Pokemon line won't be a line you build a deck around, but it is a line that can add some power to your deck.  I would try and get Electabuzz into the active Pokemon spot early, then do 90 damage a turn with Electroslug once Electabuzz is evolved.  You'll just want to be aware of its high retreat cost, so make sure to have some Switch trainer cards in your deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average to slightly above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set.  Other than having a high retreat cost, this card is very good, having a well above average HP and two solid moves, both doing a good amount of damage.  Together with Electabuzz from this set, there is definitely a reason to consider these two cards for a deck, since they get a 3 out of 5 rating together.

Electivire -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electivire from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Electivire is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 120.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Electivire does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Tag Team Spark, this move requires one lightning energy card and does 20 damage plus 20 more damage attached to your Magmortar.  Electivire's second move is called Gigavolt, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one lightning, and does 60 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin the move does 30 more damage, or if you get a tails the defending Pokemon is paralyzed.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electivire is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Electabuzz into play (I reviewed Electabuzz from this set yesterday) and then evolve Electabuzz into Electivire.  If you read yesterday's review of Electabuzz, you'll know that I thought that card was a very solid Basic Pokemon card with a good HP and two average moves that could easily be used in a deck on its own.  So knowing this about Electabuzz and looking at this Electivire card, I would definitely recommend using this line in a deck.  If you want to utilize Tag Team Spark, you'll also want to use the line of Magmar and Magmortar from this set to pump up the attack on Tag Team Spark, but even if you don't use this line, I would still consider using a 1-1 or a 2-2 line of this family.  I would definitely try to get three energy cards on Electivire as soon as possible and then use Gigavolt every turn, not only does this move do average damage for the amount of energy cards it requires but it does either extra damage or paralyzes the defending Pokemon.  If you get Electivire into play before it has three energy cards on it, you'll have to use Tag Team Spark and do 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  This card is definitely a good Stage 1 Pokemon card, it has a really high HP, a move that is quick in only requiring one energy card to use, and a powerful attack that does 60 damage minimum.  So you can definitely not go wrong using this card in your lightning type deck, and together with Electabuzz, I give these two cards a 4 out of 5 rating, individually I gave Electabuzz a 3 and Electivire a 4.
