Electabuzz -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Electabuzz Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electabuzz from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Electabuzz is a Basic, Lightning type Pokemon card with a HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Punch, for two Colorless Energy cards, this move does 20 damage.  The second move on this card is called Thunder Shock, for three Energy cards, one Lightning and two Colorless, this move does 40 damage, plus, if you get a heads when flipping a coin, your opponent's Active Pokemon is Paralyzed.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electabuzz is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Electivire, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, there is really no reason to use this card in a deck, it is slow on the attack, has a somewhat high retreat cost, and for three Energy cards, it does below average damage and only has a 50/50 shot at Paralyzing the defending Pokemon.  I would much rather use Pikachu from this set instead of this Electabuzz card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Electivire, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I mentioned above, without Electivire, there is little reason to use this card in a deck.  The card does have an above average HP and it does have two moves, but that is about it, neither move on this card is very good.  Certainly look elsewhere for a Basic, Lightning type Pokemon if you're building a deck.

Electabuzz -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Electabuzz XY Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electabuzz from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Electabuzz is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Electabuzz does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Thunder Shock, for one lightning energy card this move does 10 damage, plus it paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Electabuzz's second move is called Thunder Punch and for two energy cards, one each of colorless and lightning, this move does 30 damage, however you must flip a coin when using this move, if you get a heads this move does 10 damage more, if you get a tails, Electabuzz does 10 damage to itself.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electabuzz is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Electivire, you'll more than likely want to use this card with its evolution form, but because Evolutions is a Base Set reprint set, it does not include a Electivire card, the most recent to include Electivire is BREAKpoint.  So, on its own, only looking at this Electabuzz card, if you're building a lightning type deck and are looking for a starter type Pokemon, I would give this Electabuzz card a look.  It can do more than just 10 damage for one energy card, it can also paralyze the defending Pokemon, thus giving you more time to set up your benched Pokemon.  Add a Trick Coin trainer to Electabuzz and it will benefit both moves, so you could either continue doing 10 damage a turn and paralyze the defending Pokemon with a heads flip with Thunder Shock, all while setting up your benched Pokemon, or you could try and knock out the defending Pokemon by doing 40 damage a turn with Thunder Punch.  No matter the move you use on Electabuzz, you're going to need some luck, but I would still consider using this card as a starter type Pokemon in a deck, since it has a fairly high HP, and two solid moves, just watch out for that retreat cost, it is two colorless energy cards instead of one.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering any Electivire cards, this is an average to slightly above average Basic Pokemon card from the XY Evolutions set.  Like I mentioned above, if building a lightning type deck, this card is worth consideration as a starter type Pokemon, I like that this card has a higher HP, and two solid moves, it is just a little risky with two coin flip based moves, but overall it is a solid card.

Electabuzz -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Electabuzz BREAKpoint Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electabuzz from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Electabuzz is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Electabuzz does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  This move is called Knuckle Punch and for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage.

So, on its own, if you plan on using 4 Double Colorless energy cards in your lightning type deck, this card is definitely worth a look, since you could essentially do 20 damage a turn with a starter type Pokemon with Electabuzz, plus add in the fact it has an above average HP, and this card is definitely a contender for a good starter type Pokemon.  However, if you are not using Double Colorless energy in your deck, this card is definitely not better than average, especially since the two energy cards you attach to Electabuzz to attack must be discarded when retreated.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Electivire, this is an average Basic Pokemon card.  Like I said above, this card is good with Double colorless energy, other than that it is very very average, other than having a higher HP.  So if you're building a lighting type deck, this card is definitely worth a look.

Electabuzz -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Electabuzz Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electabuzz from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Electabuzz is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Electabuzz does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move that this card has is called Light Punch, this move requires one lightning energy card and does 10 damage.  Electabuzz's second move is called Ambush, this move requires two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, and does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin, this move does 40 damage total instead of 20.

So, on its own this card could definitely be used as a starter type Pokemon in a lightning type deck.  You could easily use 1 or 2 of these in your deck, trying to get one of them into the active Pokemon spot to start the game.  You would use whichever move you have the necessary energy cards for, and once you get two energy cards on Electabuzz you would then be able to set up your benched Pokemon.  Ambush is the move to use when you can because if you get a heads both times you use it, or at least once out of two turns, you should be able to knock out most Basic Pokemon cards that have an evolution.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  There really isn't anything too bad or anything spectacular on this card, it is just solid all around.  The HP on this card is good, but the retreat cost is a tad high, so they balance each other out.  Electabuzz's two moves are both average which makes this card a candidate for a starter type position in a lightning type deck.

Electabuzz -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Electabuzz Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electabuzz from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Electabuzz is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Electabuzz does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  Its first move is called Low Kick and for two energy cards, one each of colorless and lightning, this move does 20 damage.  Electabuzz's other move is called Magnetic Blast and for three energy cards, two colorless and one lightning, this move does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electabuzz is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Electivire, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, I would recommend keeping Electabuzz on your bench and evolving it into Electivire before moving it into the active Pokemon spot.  I would try and keep it on my bench because even though Electabuzz has 80 hp, it is fairly slow and can only do 50 damage for three energy cards so it does less than average damage, you don't want to get three energy cards on Electabuzz and then move it into the active Pokemon spot for a long time because a Pokemon with 80 hp won't last long later in the game, but if you get Electabuzz right away in your hand at the beginning of the game, you may be able to knock out a Pokemon or two if you start attacking with Electabuzz right away and then quickly evolve into Electivire after a few turns.  I would not recommend using Electabuzz in a deck on its own, it isn't really that bad, but there are definitely better lightning type Pokemon cards out there that I would use instead of this one.   Tomorrow, after I review Electivire you should knock if you need to use this card in order to play Electivire and how many Electabuzz you should use.  If for some reason you decide to use Electabuzz in your deck on its own, do not use more than 1, and use whichever move you have the required amount of energy for when attacking.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average basic Pokemon card.  Even though this card has two moves that both do damage, and an hp of 80, I am still giving this card a below average rating.  I am doing this because Electabuzz is pretty slow, really can't do that much damage for the amount of energy cards it requires, and has a high retreat cost.
