Eelektross -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Eelektross from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Eelektross is a Stage 2, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Dark Clamp, for two Energy cards, one each of Lightning and Colorless, this move does 50 damage, plus, it makes your opponent's Active Pokemon unable to retreat during your opponent's next turn.  Vacuum Belt is this card's second move, for three Energy cards, two Lightning and one Colorless, this move does 80 damage, plus, an additional 80 damage, but if you choose to do this additional damage, you must do 80 damage to one of your own Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Eelektross is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Tynamo into play and then evolve it into Eelektrik before you can evolve Eelektrik into Eelektross, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that both cards were both average overall.  Both Pokemon had well below average HP and were limited in each having only one move a piece, with Eelektrik unable to attack anything with an HP of 100 or higher.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line, you're going to definitely want to set this entire line up on the Bench if you do use it in a deck.  I personally wouldn't recommend using line in a deck, even though Eelektross has the potential to do up to 160 damage per turn, it just isn't worth it to do 80 damage to one of your own Pokemon.  One example of this making sense, would be if you are using Tauros GX in your deck, where Tauros does more damage when attacking when it has more damage on it, so you could do 160 damage with Eelektross twice, then do major damage with Tauros GX one time.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  In addition to this being a Stage 2 Pokemon card, so it is already slow to set up, neither move on this card is too powerful, unless you do damage to your own Pokemon, so unless you're fine with doing this, I would look elsewhere when building a Lightning type deck.  Altogether, I would give this line a 2 out of 5 rating, it just isn't good overall.

Eelektross -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Eelektross from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set.  Eelektross is a stage 2, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Eelektross's Ability is called Energy Connect and says that as often as you'd like before you attack, you may move an energy card from one of your benched Pokemon to your active Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Eelektross has one move called Electricannon, this move requires four energy cards to use, two each of lightning and colorless, and does 80 damage, plus 50 more damage if you choose to discard all lightning energy attached to Eelektross.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Eelektross is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Tynamo into play and then evolve it into one of the two Eelektrik cards from this set before you can evolve Eelektrik into Eelektross, all three of these cards are from this set and I've reviewed them in the past few days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that both the only card I gave an average rating to was the first Eelektrik card from this set because it had two moves and could do up to 120 damage per turn, Tynamo and the Ancient Trait Eelektrik card received 2 ratings from me.  Tynamo received a 2 because it had only 40 for an HP, and the Eelektrik card was a 2 for me because it only had one move that did below average damage and it may even attack itself when attacking.  So knowing this about the Pokemon in this family and looking at Eelektross, I would recommend using at least a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family just so you can utilize Eelektross's Ability, and this line could really be used in any deck since its Ability doesn't specify the energy cards that you can move.  This Ability would be perfect later in games for either performing a move on a Pokemon that is extremely slow quickly, or by always having enough energy to attack on a move that discards energy cards every turn.  Besides the Ability, Eelektross's move is pretty good doing above average damage, albeit on a slow move.  If you have plenty of lightning energy cards in play, it would even be worth it to discard the lightning type energy cards off of Eelektross and do 130 damage a turn if it knocks out the defending Pokemon.  So, if you want to use Eelektross to attack, you'll want to use this entire line in at least a dual type deck including lightning type Pokemon, but like I mentioned, its Ability is really what is great about this card, so definitely build around that.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  This card definitely has some downfalls, including its high retreat cost, and high energy cost move, but its Ability is just too good to pass up, plus the one attack it does have does well above average damage.  So if you're building a lightning type deck, or looking to attach energy cards quickly to the active Pokemon, Eelektross should definitely be used in a deck.  However, looking at this entire line as a whole, I can't give this family more than a 3 out of 5 rating, Tynamo and Eelektrik just aren't that great.

Eelektross -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Eelektross from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Eelektross is a stage 2, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Eelektross does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Crush and Burn, this move requires two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, and does 30 damage times the number of energy cards you discard from any of your Pokemon in play.  Eelektross's second move is called Thunder Tempest, this move requires four energy cards, three colorless and one lightning, and does 50 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip four coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Eelektross is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Tynamo into play and then evolve it into Eelektrik before you can evolve Eelektrik into Eelektross, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Neither of the two Pokemon I mentioned are that great from this set, both have low hp, so I would recommend setting up Eelektross on the bench if you're using it in your deck.  If you're using this line in a deck, I would not use more than a 2-1-1 line of Tynamo, Eelektrik, and Elektross.  I would get four energy cards on Eelektross on the bench, or load up energy cards on your Pokemon and only put two energy cards on Eelektross.  Then when Eelektross is in the active Pokemon position I would use Thunder and Tempest if you put four energy cards on Eelektross, if you only have two, I would wait until you need a one hit KO to win the game, then I would move Eelektross into the active Pokemon spot, use Crush and Burn and discard all the energy cards you have attached to your Pokemon in play.  I personally would not use this card or line in a deck because it is too slow and doesn't consistently do as much damage as I would like.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 2 Pokemon card from the Plasma Blast Pokemon card set.  I do like that this card can do 200+ damage a turn, however the card isn't as consistent as I would like it to be and it does require a lot of energy cards to use, but still it isn't a bad card, just not one I would use.  Overall, I would give the line of Tynamo, Eelektrik, and Eelektross from the Plasma Blast set a 2 out of 5 rating, Tynamo was a 2, Eelektrik and Eelektross were both 3s, but overall, the line just doesn't have anything that stands out so that is why I'm giving it a 2 rating instead of 3.
