Doduo -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Doduo Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Doduo from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Doduo is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Doduo does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Fury Attack, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 3 coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Doduo is a Basic evolution Pokemon with a Stage 1 evolution in Dodrio, it is always a good idea to use the full line together, however, there isn't a Dodrio in this set, since there wasn't one in the Base Set, first appearing in the Jungle set.  Because of this, I will be reviewing Doduo on its own, the newest set to feature Dodrio would be BREAKthrough.  So, on its own, unless you're already using 4 Trick Coin tool cards in your deck, there is really no reason to use this card, but if you are using that tool card, Fury Attack is a good move to start the game with since it more than likely will do at least 10 damage per turn and can do up to 30 damage.  Without some extra luck, you could end up doing no damage every turn you try and attack with Doduo, so I would recommend passing on this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Dodrio, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card, mainly because it is limited in that it only has one move and the only move that this card has is based off of coin flips.  But, like I mentioned above, if you're using Trick Coin trainer cards this card is a little better, plus any type of energy card be used with this card, meaning there are situations where this card could be used, but overall there are much better Basic Pokemon out there.

Doduo 116/162 -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Doduo BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Doduo from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of the two Doduo cards that I've reviewed from this set.  Doduo is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is Double Stab, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when flipping two coins.  Doduo's second move is called Doduo Delivery, and for two colorless energy cards this move allows you to draw two cards.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Doduo is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Dodrio, which I'll be reviewing in two days, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I will just assess this card on its own, but will compare it to yesterday's Doduo card.  So compared to yesterday's card, this card is very similar, the only difference being Doduo's first move.  Yesterday's card could do 30 damage for one energy card, if you flipped two heads when flipping two coins, otherwise the move did nothing, today's Doduo card can do up to 20 damage if you get two heads, otherwise 10 damage per heads when flipping two coins.  Neither Doduo card is great, but if you have to use one in the active Pokemon spot, I would prefer this card because it has a better chance of doing damage when attacking.  So unless you're using Doduo with Dodrio, I would not use either Doduo card from this set in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Dodrio, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  Very similar to yesterday's Doduo card, this card does have a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, but it just isn't that powerful and the one move it can do damage with is a coin flip based move, so you're better off leaving this card on the bench or out of your deck entirely.

Doduo 115/162 -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Doduo BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Doduo from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Doduo cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Doduo is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is Simultaneous Peck, for one colorless energy card this move does 30 damage if you get two heads when you flip two coins, otherwise the move does nothing.  Doduo's second move is called Doduo Delivery and for two colorless energy cards this move allows you to draw 2 cards.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Doduo is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Dodrio, which I'll be reviewing in two days, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, and haven't reviewed the other Doduo card from this set, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution and do not know which Doduo card is better.  So, on its own, I cannot come up with a reason to use this card in a deck.  Yes, this card can be used in any type deck, and yes it has the potential to do 30 damage right away to start the game, but since this card can only do damage if you get two heads in a row, which is a 25% chance of happening, I would not use this card in a deck.  Plus, Doduo's second move, Doduo Delivery can easily be replaced by a trainer card.  So unless you're using Dodrio in this deck, do not use this card at all, it just isn't worth the risk.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Dodrio, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  I like that this card has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, but neither move on this card is that great, meaning although this card has plenty of options in battle, it just isn't that great, and shouldn't be used in a deck on its own.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Doduo from the BREAKthrough set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of the second Doduo card, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Doduo -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Doduo Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Doduo from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  Doduo is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Doduo does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move this card has is called Double Hit, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Doduo is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Dodrio, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own I would definitely not recommend using this card in a deck.  Other than the fact this card can be used in any type deck, this card only has one move and the only move it does have requires a ton of energy cards and if you get extremely lucky the move will only do average damage.  So unless you really want to use Dodrio in your deck, I would definitely stay away from this card.  Of course if you need to play this card in your deck, you'll have to get three energy cards onto Doduo and use Double Hit every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very poor basic Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  Other than the high hp, nothing on this card is above average and in my opinion Double Hit is one of the worst moves out there a basic Pokemon card can have.  So for mainly that reason this card is only getting a 1 rating from me.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Doduo -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Doduo Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Doduo from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Doduo is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Doduo does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move this card has is called Gatling Peck, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 5 coins.

So on its own, I would not suggest using Doduo in a deck.  I say this because Doduo only has the one move, which isn't that quick, and the only move it has, even though it can potentially do 50 damage, it also has the potential to not do any damage at all.  If you do choose to use this Doduo card in a deck, this card can be used in any deck since it doesn't require any specific type of energy cards.  I would try and get this card into the active Pokemon spot early in the game and potentially one hit KO some Pokemon when using Gatling Peck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average basic Pokemon card.  I am giving this card a below average rating because it only has one move and no Ability, plus its only move doesn't guarantee doing damage when you use it.  So there are definitely better basic Pokemon out there that you could use in a deck instead of Doduo.
