Crabominable -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Crabominable Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Crabominable from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Crabominable is a Stage 1, Fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 140. It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Gusty Hammer, for one Fighting Energy card, this move does 80 damage, however, this move does 10 damage to itself for each damage counter on it.  Crabominable's second move is called Double Stomp, for 3 Fighting Energy cards, this move does 80 damage, plus 40 more damage for each heads you get when flipping two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Crabominable is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Crabrawler into play (I reviewed Crabrawler from this set yesterday) and then evolve Crabrawler into Crabominable.  If you read yesterday's review of Crabrawler, you'll know that it was a below average Basic Pokemon overall.  The card was just too limited to advise using on its own, since it only had the one move that required two Energy cards to use.  While the one move on the card has potential to do a good amount of damage, a card with only 80 HP won't last long later in games.  So knowing this about Crabrawler and looking at this Crabominable card, there are two situations when deck building you may try and include this card, the first would be if you have a card in your deck that has a move that moves all damage from your own Pokemon to an opposing Pokemon, that way, it would make sense to use Gusty Hammer and do damage to yourself.  The other scenario would be if you're using a Victini card from the Guardians Rising set, that way you could utilize its Ability giving you two chances at flipping coins when using Double Stomp, and potentially doing 160+ damage for three Energy cards.  While both of these scenarios make some sense to actually consider this card, I still don't highly recommend this card, in today's game it is all about EX and GX cards, this card is going to be too weak and too easy to take down, plus, if you don't have Guzma or a Float Stone Trainer, this card requires a ton of Energy to retreat.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average to slightly below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  I do like that the HP on this card is similar to Stage 2 Pokemon, and that both moves have the opportunity to deal major damage, but overall, this card is a little slow on the attack and could be easy to knock out if you have damage on Crabominable before moving it in the Active Pokemon spot, since it would take away Gusty Hammer's appeal.  Overall, I would give Crabrawler and Crabominable from this set a 2 out of 5 rating.

Crabominable -- Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Review

Crabominable Sun and Moon Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Crabominable from the Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Set.  Crabominable is a Stage 1, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 140. It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Crabominable does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Avalanche, for three Energy cards, two Water and one Colorless, this move does 80 damage, plus 10 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.  Crabominable's second move is called Ice Hammer, for four Energy cards, three Water and one Colorless, this move does 140 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Crabominable is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Crabrawler into play then evolve Crabrawler into Crabominable.  I have not reviewed Crabrawler from this set yet, since it is a Fighting type Pokemon.  So, looking at this Crabominable card, because it has such a huge retreat cost, it would make sense to set it up on the Bench.  This card would work perfectly in a spread attack type deck since it can do more than average damage with Avalanche, and then it also spreads damage around with that move.  This would be the main move I would use on Crabominable, although Ice Hammer does do major damage.  So, if you're prepared to take a few turns to get this card set up, and to discard a lot of Energy when retreating, this is a pretty great Stage 1 Pokemon card to use in either a Water type deck or a spread attach type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a well above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Sun and Moon set.  Other than being slow to set up and having a high retreat cost, both of the moves on this card are dominant, they both can do major damage to the defending Pokemon, and Avalanche can also spread damage around.  I would highly recommend using this card in a deck.
