Clefairy -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Clefairy from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Clefairy is a Basic, Fairy type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Darkness type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Clefairy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Slap, for one Fairy Energy card this move does 10 damage.  For two Colorless Energy cards, Follow Me, allows you to switch your opponent's Active Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Clefairy is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Clefable, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, if you're building a Fairy type deck or a spread attack type deck, this card has some use.  Slap is a decent move to start the game with, since it can attack for one Energy card and do damage every turn.  Although limited later in games, it is an okay move at the start of games.  Follow Me is the main reason you'd use this card in a spread attack type deck, you would move Clefairy in and out of the Active Pokemon spot using Follow Me every turn, potentially setting up a weak Pokemon in your opponent's Active Pokemon spot so you can knock it out during your next turn with a more powerful Pokemon you have set up on your Bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Clefable, this is an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  I like this card because there are a couple of different strategies this card could be used with, both as a starter and a card in a spread attack type deck.  This card has a low retreat cost and solid HP, so it is worth considering when deck building.

Clefairy -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Clefairy from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Clefairy is a basic, fairy type Pokemon card with a HP of 40.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to darkness type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Clefairy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Sing, for one colorless energy card this move puts the defending Pokemon to sleep if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Clefairy's second move is called Metronome, for three colorless energy cards, this move allows you to use one of your opponent's Active Pokemon's attacks and use it as Clefairy's attack.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Clefairy is a Basic evolution Pokemon with a Stage 1 evolution in Clefable, it is always a good idea to use the full line together, however, there isn't a Clefable in this set, since there wasn't one in the Base Set, but it first appeared in the Jungle set.  Because of this, I will be reviewing Clefairy on its own, but the newest set to feature Clefable would be BREAKpoint.  So, on its own, I would not recommend using Clefairy in a deck, the main reason for this is its low HP, because of how low the HP is, you can really only use this card the first turn in the game, if used later in the game, it is pretty much guaranteed for a one hit knock out.  If you do decide to use Clefairy in the active Pokemon spot, attaching a Trick Coin Pokemon Tool card to Clefairy would give you a better chance at putting the defending Pokemon to sleep when using Sing.  Metronome would be a great move if Clefairy had a higher HP, but the move is too slow to be that great, the only way you could use it would be to set up Clefairy on the bench and when the defending Pokemon has a high attack that would knock itself out, you could put Clefairy into the active Pokemon spot and use Metronome, just know, Clefairy will more than likely be knocked out the next turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Clefable, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card, all due to its low HP.  Other than that, I do like the fact Clefable has two moves, one that can inflict a special condition and the other that can do some major damage when facing a powerful Pokemon.  But, without using Clefable in your deck, I would not recommend using Clefairy on its own.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Clefairy from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Clefairy is a basic, fairy type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to darkness type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Clefairy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Sing and for one fairy energy card this move puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.  Clefairy's second move is called Double Slap and for two colorless energy cards this move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

So as far as strategy goes, since Clefairy is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Clefable, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, if you're building a fairy type deck, this card could be used as a starter type Pokemon, since it has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two quick moves.  You could use Sing first, and then while the defending Pokemon is asleep set up your benched Pokemon, or you could use a Double Colorless energy card and put a Trick Coin trainer on this card to potentially do 20 damage a turn.  If you're not building a fairy type deck, I would look elsewhere for a starter type Pokemon to use.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Clefable, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set.  There really isn't anything amazing on this card, but nothing terrible either, making this card average overall.  So like I said above, this card is worth consideration if you're trying to build a fairy type deck.

Clefairy #70/111 -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Clefairy from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second Clefairy I've reviewed on my blog in two days.  This Clefairy is a basic, fairy type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to darkness type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Clefairy does not have an Ability and only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Moonblast, this move requires one fairy type energy card and does 10 damage, plus if your opponent attacks Clefairy during their next turn, damage is reduced by 10.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Clefairy is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Clefable, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution, but I will compare both Clefairy cards during this post.  So, on its own I could see using this card as a starter type Pokemon in a deck because it is quick to attack only requiring one energy card to attack and doing not only damage but reducing damage from your opponent's attack.  Because it only has one move I wouldn't put more than 1 of these in a deck.  So basically strategy wise, I would get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, put one energy card on it and use Moonblast every turn.  Then once you get a benched Pokemon set up, move Clefairy to your bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  This card is solid overall, having a good HP, low retreat cost, and an average move.  Even though I gave both Clefairy cards from this set a 3 out of 5 rating, I would definitely recommending using yesterday's Clefairy card more than today's card, that card can do more damage and has two moves instead of one.

Clefairy #69/111 -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Clefairy from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Clefairy cards I'll be reviewing.  This Clefairy is a basic, fairy type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to darkness type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Clefairy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Moonlight, for one colorless energy card this move heals 30 damage from Clefairy.  Clefairy's second move is called Pound, this move requires two energy cards, one each of fairy and colorless, and does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Clefairy is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Clefable, which I'll be reviewing in two days, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet and I haven't even reviewed the second Clefairy card from this set yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution and that I do not know which Clefairy card from this set is better.  So, on its own I could definitely see this card being used as a starter type Pokemon in a fairy type deck.  I would try and get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, get two energy cards on it, then use Pound most turns, then when Clefairy is close to being knocked out use Moonlight.  The advantage with this card is that you only need two energy cards to use it and this card will give plenty of time to get the benched Pokemon set up and ready to be used.  Because this card can only do 20 damage maximum, I wouldn't include more than two of these in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, this is an average to slightly above average Basic Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  There really isn't anything that I dislike about this card.  It has an average HP and retreat cost, and two good moves.  This card can work well in a deck as a starter type Pokemon and should definitely be considered anytime anyone is building a fairy type deck.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Clefairy from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Scraggy is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Clefairy does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move this card has is called Pound, this move requires one colorless energy card and does 10 damage.  Clefairy's second move is called Double Slap, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 20 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Clefairy is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Clefable, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So on its own, Clefairy is a pretty decent starter Pokemon.  It has a solid hp, and two decent moves.  Because this is a colorless type card and can use any type of energy cards to attack, if you need one or two more cards to put in your deck, Clefairy is a good card to use.  I would try and get Clefairy into the active Pokemon spot as early as possible in the game, and then put two energy cards on it and use Double Slap every turn, hoping for two heads of course.  I would keep using Double Slap every turn unless the defending Pokemon would be knocked out by 10 damage, then you'll want to use Pound because it will for sure do 10 damage because there is not any flipping of coins involved.  So I definitely would consider using this card in a deck, I wouldn't make this card a priority for any deck out there, but if you're looking for up to two cards to put into your deck, Clefairy is a good card to use.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card.  I am giving this Clefairy card an average rating because it is just that, an average card.  It is very solid nevertheless and can be used in a deck on its own without Clefable.  I like that this card is colorless, so it can be used in any deck, I like that it has two moves, and I like that Double Slap has the potential to do 40 damage every turn.
