Chinchou -- Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Review

Chinchou Sun and Moon Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Chinchou from the Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Set.  Chinchou is a Basic, Lightning type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Chinchou does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Searching Light, for one Colorless Energy card this move allows you to look at 1 of your face-down Prize cards.  Chinchou's second move is called Electro Ball and for three Energy cards, two Colorless and one Lightning, this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Chinchou is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Lanturn, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, the only reason you should use this card in a deck is if you think it will give you an advantage by looking at your Prize cards early.  If that is the case, you can try and get Chinchou into the Active Pokemon spot to start the game and then use Searching Light a couple of turns, then retreat it.  Although Electro Ball does do damage every turn, I wouldn't use it for three Energy cards, for two Energy cards, with one Double Colorless this move is average at best.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Lanturn, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Sun and Moon set.  I do like the idea of previewing your Prize cards, but if used later in games, this card is very ineffective, since most of your Prize cards should be taken, and 30 damage a turn isn't much, especially for three Energy cards.  I think this card would work better with Lanturn, since you could evolve it after using Searching Light one turn.

Chinchou -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Chinchou Primal Clash Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Chinchou from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set.  Chinchou is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Chinchou does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Wave Splash.  This move requires two energy cards to use, one each of water and colorless, and does 20 damage.

So, on its own, this card could be used in a deck as a starter type Pokemon since it has an above average HP, and a solid move.  However, I would not be the biggest fan of using this card in a deck just because of how limited this card is, only having one move, and the only move it does have is slow for a starter type Pokemon, and can only do average damage.  But, if you're building a lightning type deck and need a starter type Pokemon, Lanturn wouldn't be the worst choice to use, you could easily use one of these in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Lanturn, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  This card definitely has some positives on it, like its high HP, and a move that does 20 damage, but overall this card just isn't that great, requiring two energy cards to attack, and requiring those same two energy cards to retreat.  So to summarize, you can definitely do better than by using Chinchou in your deck.

Chinchou -- Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Review

Chinchou Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Chinchou from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Set.  Chinchou is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Chinchou does not have Ability and it only has one move.  The only move this card has is called Static Shock, this move requires two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, and does 20 damage.

So on its own, this card could be used in a deck if you need just one more card to make it 60 cards in the deck, however it wouldn't be one of the first cards on my list of cards that I would want to put into a deck.  This card is extremely similar to the Voltorb card I reviewed from this set the other day, the only difference being this card has 10 more hp but a one energy card higher retreat cost.  So if you do need one more Pokemon to use in your lightning type deck and are debating between Voltorb or Chinchou, I would recommend using Chinchou, because more than likely you're going to want to retreat Chinchou and if you need two energy cards on it to attack, giving up those two energy cards to retreat isn't that big of deal.  So if you do get this card in the active Pokemon spot you'll have to use Static Shock every turn when you have the necessary energy cards because that will be your only choice with this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card.  Even though this card can't attack with only one energy card, I'm giving this card an average rating still because Chinchou has above average hp, and an average move.  So you can't go really good or really bad with this card so I would only use this card as a filler card for your deck.

Chinchou -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Chinchou Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Chinchou from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Chinchou is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Chinchou does not have an Ability, and it only has one move.  Its only move is called Electripult which requires two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, and does 20 damage to one of your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, usually with a basic Pokemon that has an evolution I would say to keep the basic Pokemon on the bench and evolve it into its evolution, but in this case, Chinchou's evolution, Lanturn, does not have a Pokemon card in any of the Black and White sets so at this time you'll not be able to evolve it into anything, you'll have to just use Chinchou in a deck if that is what you desire.  Because it doesn't evolve, I would try and keep it on the bench, put two energy cards on it, and move it into the active Pokemon spot at an opportune time.  The only time I would consider using this card in a deck would be if it was in a spread damage type deck, this card would work great with the Electivire card from yesterday.  You could use Electivire early in the game, then move Chinchou into the active Pokemon spot later, and do spot damage to whatever Pokemon of your opponent's is weak and would be knocked out by 20 damage.  Even if I had Chinchou in a spread damage type deck, I would not use more than 2, I more than likely would only use 1.  So again, if you're using a spread damage type deck this card is a possibility, otherwise I would look elsewhere.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card.  This card pretty much has average everything, hp, retreat cost, energy requirements to attack, and amount of damage it does.  This card is somewhat slow, requiring two energy cards to attack, but it makes up for this fact if you're using this card in a spread damage type deck.
