Braviary -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Braviary from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Braviary is a Stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with a HP of 120. It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Braviary does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is Ambush, for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage plus 50 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Braviary's second move is called Sky Drop and for three colorless energy cards this move does 120 damage minus 20 damage for each colorless energy in your opponent's Active Pokemon's retreat cost.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Braviary is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Rufflet into play (I reviewed Rufflet from this set yesterday) and then evolve Rufflet into Braviary.  If you read yesterday's review of Rufflet, you'll know that I thought it was a below average card overall.  It did have a solid HP, and a decent attacking move, but was slow with only one attack and that attack did damage to itself every turn.  So knowing this about Rufflet and looking at this Braviary card, I would recommend using no more of a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck and setting up on the bench.  That way, you can avoid doing damage to Rufflet, and you can get three energy cards on this card and pick and choose your spots to use Sky Drop, the weaker the Pokemon the easier it will be for Sky Drop to do more damage, since weaker Pokemon usually have lower retreat costs.  While this definitely isn't a card to take down Pokemon EX, it is one that should be considered when deck building.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Overall, this card has a well above average HP and two good moves, both doing damage, and both having potential to do well above average damage.  Because both Rufflet and Braviary can be used in any type decks, I would give these two cards a 3 out of 5 rating combined.

Braviary -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Braviary from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Braviary is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Braviary does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Wing Attack, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage.  Braviary's second move is called Dual Cut and for four colorless energy cards, this move does 80 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Braviary is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Rufflet into play (I reviewed Rufflet from this set yesterday) and then evolve Rufflet into Braviary.  If you read yesterday's review of Rufflet, you'll know I thought that card was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a low HP and was slow on the attack, but the one move it did have, was good, it could do 30 damage for two colorless energy cards.  So knowing this about Rufflet and looking at this Braviary card, I am not a fan of this card and wouldn't recommend using this card in a deck, and would advise to avoid this line altogether when deck building.  First off, on this Braviary card, Wing Attack is exactly the same as Peck from Rufflet, and then Dual Cut, although it can do 160 damage a turn, it is also really slow to use and may end up doing zero damage a turn.  Of course to make this card faster, you could use Double Colorless energy and use a Trick Coin trainer to get a better chance at doing more damage with Dual Cut, but overall, I would recommend avoiding this card altogether.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is slightly below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  I do like that this card has a high HP and two moves, but neither move that this card is that great, and although one move has the potential to do major damage, it requires four energy cards to use and it is based on a coin flip.  So together with Rufflet from this set, I would give these two cards a 2 out of 5 rating, the same rating each card received individually.

Braviary -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Braviary from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Braviary is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Braviary's Ability is called Big Wing and says that when Braviary is in the active Pokemon spot, each turn you may choose to have your opponent switch their active Pokemon with one of their benched ones.  Besides the Ability, Braviary has one move called Wild Edge, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 60 damage plus 20 more damage if you choose to do 20 damage to Braviary.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Braviary is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Rufflet into play (I reviewed Rufflet from this set yesterday) and then evolve Rufflet into Braviary.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Rufflet was a below average Pokemon card that should not be used on its own in a deck.  Because of this and the fact that Braviary requires three energy cards to attack, I would try and evolve Rufflet into Braviary on the bench.  The earlier you get Braviary into the active Pokemon spot and able to use Wild Edge the better, what I would do would be to use this card in a spread damage type deck, then, I would use Wild Edge on 2 or 3 Pokemon, so after using Wild Edge once, I would then invoke Big Wing and have your opponent switch their active Pokemon, that way, later on in the game you can potentially knock out several Pokemon at once with a Pokemon that does a spread damage type move.  I wouldn't use too many cards from this line in a deck, but I could foresee using a 2-1 or 2-2 line of Rufflet and Braviary in a spread damage type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card.  I do like that this card has above average hp for a stage 1 card and that it has both a move and an Ability, but nothing really stands out on this card to make it above average.  So basically, this card shouldn't hurt or help your deck much if you use it in it.  Overall, I would give the line of Rufflet and Braviary from the Plasma Storm set a 2 out of 5 rating.
