Braixen -- Fates Collide Pokemon Card Review

Braixen Fates Collide Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Braixen from the Fates Collide Pokemon Card set.  Braixen is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Braixen does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Destructive Flame, for one fire energy card this move does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin you can discard an energy card attached to your opponent's active Pokemon.  Braixen's second move is called Crackling Ribbon and for two colorless energy cards does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Braixen is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Fennekin into play, there are two Fennekin cards in this set and I've reviewed both the past two days, and then evolve Fennekin into Braixen.  Braixen does have a Stage 2 evolution in Delphox, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Braixen is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my reviews of the two Fennekin cards in this set, you'll know that I preferred the first Fennekin card, card number 10 more than the other Fennekin card, this first card had a higher HP, and two moves, as opposed to the second Fennekin card which had a below average HP and only one move that couldn't even attack.  So knowing this about the Fennekin cards in this set and looking at this Braixen card, if you're already playing one Fennekin card in your deck, it is definitely worth playing this Braixen card because it has two quick moves and both moves can do more damage than the one Fennekin has.  However, if you're aren't playing Fennekin in your deck already, I would wait until you use this whole line to use Braixen because Braixen does have a lower HP.  When in the active Pokemon spot, it would be to your advantage to have a Trick Coin trainer attached to Braixen so that you have a better chance of discarding an energy card when using Destructive Flame, especially on Pokemon that need a lot of energy to attack, this can be particularly useful.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Fates Collide set.  Other than having a below average HP, this card has two quick hitting, somewhat powerful moves and a low retreat cost, so there are plenty of worse cards than this one to use in your deck.  Together with the first Fennekin card in this set I would give the two cards a 3 out of 5 rating, the same rating I gave each card individually.

Braixen -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Braixen BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Braixen from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set.  Braixen is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Braixen does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Flamethrower, for three energy cards, two colorless and one fire, this move does 70 damage however you must discard an energy card attached to Braixen after using.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Braixen is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Fennekin into play (I reviewed Fennekin from this set yesterday) and then evolve Fennekin into Braixen.  Braixen does have a Stage 2 evolution in Delphox, however there is not a Delphox in this set, you'll have to use the one from the XY set that I've reviewed previously on my blog.  The strategy now will only consider the first two cards in this line.  If you read my review of Fennekin you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card, the card actually could do a fair amount of damage for two energy cards, but the move was based off of a coin flip and Fennekin had a low HP.  So knowing this about Fennekin and looking at this Braixen card, I cannot recommend using either card in a deck, the main reason being both Pokemon have below average HP and both cards are slow on the attack.  Flamethrower does do above average damage but you're either going to have to use Burning Energy with Braixen to prevent discarding or have to add energy cards to Braixen each turn.  So I cannot recommend using this line in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Besides having a move that does slightly above average damage, this card really isn't that great, it has a low HP, and only one move that is slow on the attack.  There are much better lines out there to use in a fire type deck and I can only give these two Pokemon, Fennekin and Braixen a 2 out of 5 rating.

Braixen -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Braixen Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Braixen from the X and Y Pokemon card set.  Braixen is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Braixen does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Clairvoyant Eye, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to look at the top 3 cards of your deck and put them back on your deck in any order you'd like.  Braixen's second move is called Fire Tail Slap, this move requires two energy cards, one each of fire and colorless, and does 40 damage, however you must discard a fire energy card attached to Braixen after using.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Braixen is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Fennekin into play (I reviewed Fennekin from this set yesterday) and then evolve Fennekin into Braixen.  Braixen does have a stage 2 evolution in Delphox that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Braixen is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read yesterday's review of Fennekin, you'll know that I thought that the card was very average, and probably shouldn't be used on its own, due to its low hp.  So knowing that and looking at this Braixen card, I would definitely not use Fennekin and Braixen in a deck together without using Delphox.  I say this because Fennekin is an average card but this Braixen card is pretty bad, it has a low hp, and two pretty crummy moves.  If for some reason you want to use this card in a deck, I would not use more than 1 each of Braixen and Fennekin, of course you'll want to use Fire Tail Slap if possible, but instead of adding more than 2 energy cards to this card, I would probably retreat Braixen after using Fire Tail Slap once.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a pretty terrible stage 1 Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  The only positive on this card is that it has a low retreat cost, other than that, the hp is low, and both moves on this card are pretty horrible.  I would stay away from using the first two Pokemon in this line on their own, and would give the first two cards in this line just a 1 out of 5 rating, Fennekin was a 3, and Braixen is a 1.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Braixen from the X and Y set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Braixen's stage 2 evolution in Delphox which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!
