Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lycanroc from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set. This the first of three different Lycanroc cards that I'll be reviewing from the Burning Shadows set. Lycanroc is a Stage 1, Fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost. This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move on this card is called Dangerous Claws, for one Fighting Energy card, this move does 30 damage, plus the move does 30 more damage if the defending Pokemon is a Basic Pokemon. Lycanroc's second move is called Corner, for three Energy cards, one Fighting and two Colorless, this move does 90 damage, plus the defending Pokemon can't retreat during their next turn.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lycanroc is a Stage 1 Pokemon with a Basic evolution form in Rockruff, you'll have to use Rockruff in your deck if you want to use Lycanroc. There is not a Rockruff in this set, I would recommend using the one from the Sun & Moon 1-Pack Blisters. Just looking at this Lycanroc card, if you are building a Fighting type deck with 4 Strong Energy and Regirock EX, it may make some sense to include one of this Lycanroc card with the Lycanroc GX you're already using, this card has the potential to do 120 damage for only one Strong Energy card if you have Regirock EX on your Bench, and a Choice Band Trainer attached to Lycanroc and you're facing an EX or GX Pokemon, plus, even if you're facing a regular Basic Pokemon, 80 damage for one Strong Energy is very good. Corner isn't anything special, sure it does a fair amount of damage, but many Pokemon can do more damage than this for only two Energy cards, sometimes even one Double Colorless Energy card.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, if you're building something like the Buzzwole GX deck that I reviewed on YouTube, and you already have Rockruff and Lycanroc GX in the deck, you may remove one of the cards in the deck and put one of these Lycanroc cards in it, just so you can attack quicker, and not every Pokemon in your deck is an EX or GX Pokemon, that way if you have a Pokemon you're facing preventing attacks from these types of Pokemon, you can also use this Lycanroc in the Active Pokemon spot and hopefully knock out that Pokemon preventing your GX from attacking. If you aren't using Lycanroc GX already in your deck, I would pass on using this particular card altogether.
