Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gliscor from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set. Gliscor is a Stage 1, Fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost. Gliscor does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move on this card is called Finishing Stinger, for one Fighting Energy card, this move does 70 damage, however, if the defending Pokemon does not have any damage counters on it, this move does nothing. Guillotine is the name of Gliscor's second move, for three Energy cards, one Fighting and two Colorless, this move does 90 damage.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gliscor is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Gligar into play (I reviewed Gligar from this set yesterday) and then evolve Gligar into Gliscor. If you read yesterday's review of Gligar, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall. It could certainly be used as a starter type Pokemon in either a Fighting type deck or a spread attack type deck. It had an above average HP, and could attack two of your opponent's Benched Pokemon each turn, it was just limited in that it only had the one move, and it couldn't attack your opponent's Active Pokemon. So knowing this about Gligar and looking at this Gliscor card, you're best bet with this line is to use one Gligar to start the game, then retreat it and switch to a Pokemon that can either do more spread attack damage, or that can attack the Active Pokemon. Ideally you would want to make it so all of your opponent's Pokemon have at least 10 damage on them, then switch Gliscor into the Active Pokemon spot and do 70 damage for only one Energy card. If you're okay with waiting, Guillotine does well above average damage for three Energy cards.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set. It has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two fairly powerful moves. I like that this card works well in either a Fighting type or a spread attack type deck. Together with Gligar from this set, which I also gave a 3 out of 5 rating, the entire line gets a 3 out of 5 rating from me.
