Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanillish from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card set. Vanillish is a Stage 1, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 80. It has a x2 weakness to Metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost. Vanillish does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Ice Shard, for one Water Energy card this move does 30 damage plus 30 more damage if the defending Pokemon is a Fighting type Pokemon.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vanillish is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Vanillite into play (I reviewed Vanillite from this set yesterday) and then evolve Vanillite into Vanillish. Vanillite does have a Stage 2 evolution in Vanilluxe, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Vanillish is the final evolution in this line. So if you read my review of Vanillite, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall. The card was pretty limited in what it could do, having a low HP, and only one move. The one move the card did have could do up to 30 damage per turn, but it also is based off of coin flips, so the move may end up doing no damage at all. So knowing this about Vanillite and looking at this Vanillish card, this card is very similar in that it has a below average HP, only move one, and its only move has potential to do major damage but in Vanillish's case, only against Fighting type Pokemon. Because both cards in this line so far are limited in what they can do and have below average HP, I would recommend either not using this line at all in a deck, or keep the entire line on the Bench until you're able to evolve to Vanilluxe.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set. Similarly to Vanillite from yesterday, this card is below average overall. Against Fighting type Pokemon, this card can do 60 damage for one Energy card, which is excellent, but against other Pokemon, this card is just too limited. Together with Vanillite from this set, I would give the two Pokemon in this line a 1 out of 5 rating, look elsewhere for Pokemon to use in your deck.
