Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Ambipom from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set. Ambipom is a Stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Ambipom does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is Furry Chance, for one colorless energy card, this move does 20 damage plus 60 more damage if when discarding the top card of your opponent's deck the card discarded is an energy card. Ambipom's second move is called Double Hit and for three colorless energy cards this move does 50 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 2 coins.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Ambipom is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Aipom into play (I reviewed Aipom from this set yesterday) and then evolve Aipom into Ambipom. If you read yesterday's review of Aipom, you'll know that I thought it was an average card overall. Since it was a colorless type card it could fit into any deck, it had two moves, one that could do 20 damage and the other that could reorganize the top 3 cards of the opponent's deck. So knowing this about Aipom from this set and looking at this Ambipom card, if you are going to use this line in a deck, I would recommend only using a 1-1 or 2-2 line of this family. Definitely try and use Trick Coin trainer cards and Double Colorless energy cards. Ideally, you would use Aipom's Fiddle Around move to rearrange the cards in your opponent's deck the turn before you use Ambipom so that you have the best chance of doing 80 damage with Furry Chance. Other than that, Double Hit can do major damage every turn, but needs some luck, that is why you'll want to use the Trick Coin trainer with this card.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set. Like I mentioned above, this card works well with the Aipom from this set, and if used in this way, has potential to do major damage with both of its moves. Together with Aipom from this set, which I gave a 3 out of 5 rating, I would give these cards a 3 out of 5 rating, if you're looking for some colorless type Pokemon for your deck, I would give these two Pokemon a shot.
