Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Talonflame BREAK from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set. The way a BREAK card works is that you place it on top of the Pokemon with the exact name, so this card would be placed on top of Talonflame, so basically this card is a Stage 3 card. It is placed horizontally on the card it evolves from and can use that Pokemon's Abilities and Attacks as well as what is on the BREAK card. Talonflame BREAK is a BREAK (essentially a Stage 3), fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 170. It has the same weakness, resistance and retreat cost as the Talonflame you're evolving it from. Talonflame does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Flare Blitz that requires two fire energy cards to use and does 150 damage, however after using this move you must discard all fire energy attached to Talonflame.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Talonflame BREAK is a stage 3 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Fletchling, Fletchinder, and Talonflame into play, all three are colorless type Pokemon in this set and I'll be reviewing them in the next month or so. But regardless, if you want to take up a bulk of your deck with this Pokemon family to get to Talonflame BREAK, you'll definitely want to have 4 Burning Energy cards in your deck so that you can use Flare Blitz every single turn. That move is definitely a powerful one, but you'll have to ask yourself if it is worth it to evolve so many Pokemon just to do 150 damage a turn. At best, I would use a 1-1-1-1 line of this entire family and use the line if you can get the cards in play, otherwise have another Pokemon in your deck that does major damage.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a very good BREAK card from the Steam Siege set. Just like yesterday's fire type Pokemon line that required Burning Energy to be above average, this card is the same, if you're using that type of Special Energy this card is very good. The only downfall with this card is that it is a Stage 3, and there really isn't anything like Spirit Link cards to start attacking with BREAK cards quicker. So my advice would be if you're building a fire type deck, to consider this card since it can do major damage, but remember how long it will take to get this card into play.
