Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Clawitzer from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set. Clawitzer is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Clawitzer's Ability is called Mega Boost and says that once per turn, you may attach a Special Energy card from your hand to one of your Mega Evolution Pokemon in play. Besides the Ability, Clawitzer just has one move called Crabhammer, this move does 60 damage for three energy cards, two colorless and one water.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Clawitzer is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Clauncher into play (I reviewed Clauncher from this set yesterday) and then evolve Clauncher into Clawitzer. There is a Clawitzer BREAK card in this set and I'll be reviewing it tomorrow. If you read yesterday's review of Clauncher, you'll know that I thought it was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card. It was pretty solid overall, with a good HP, low retreat cost, and a quick move, but the card was limited overall, and the only move it had depended on two coin flips. So knowing this about Clauncher and looking at this Clawitzer card, if you want to use this card purely for its Crabhammer move, that is an okay idea, it is an average move at best, but deals a fair amount of damage, if Clauncher would have been better I could have recommended this route. But, without knowing what Clawitzer BREAK looks like, the way you'd want to use this card in a deck is if you're using Mega EX Pokemon and if you're using a full set of a Special Energy card, like a Double Colorless energy or Burning Energy, if you're not doing both of those things, there is no reason to use this card in a deck.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set. Other than being slow on the attack, and having an Ability that won't work unless you are using Mega EX and Special Energy cards, this card is solid overall. It has an average HP, low retreat cost, and an average move, plus an Ability. Like I said in the strategy section of this post, I probably wouldn't use this card without the BREAK form, but this card isn't terrible. Together with Clauncher from this set, I would give the two cards a 2 out of 5 rating.
