Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Vanillish from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card set. Vanillish is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70. It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Vanillish does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Ice Edge, for one water energy card this move does 10 damage plus 30 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin. Vanillish's second move is called Icy Wind and for two water energy cards this move does 30 damage, plus it puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Vanillish is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Vanillite into play (I reviewed Vanillite from this set yesterday) and then evolve Vanillite into Vanillish. Vanillish does have a Stage 2 evolution in Vanilluxe, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Vanillish is the final evolution in this line. So if you read my review of Vanillite, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it did have two moves and could do up to 20 damage a turn, but the card itself had a low HP and it required two energy cards to do damage. So knowing this about Vanillite and looking at this Vanillish card, this card is similar in that it does a fair amount of damage but it has a low HP. So unless you don't mind having two cards in your deck with low HP, I would not use this line in a deck. However, just like Vanillite, if you are going to use this entire line, Vanillish wouldn't be terrible to have in the active Pokemon spot since it can attack quickly and potentially put the defending Pokemon to sleep.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set, one that would be average if it had 90 HP instead of only 70 since this card does have two good moves and both moves not only do a fair amount of damage but are quick to use. Together, Vanillite and Vanillish from this set get a 2 out of 5 rating from me.
Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
