Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Seaking from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set. Seaking is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. This Seaking card does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Soaking Horn, for one water energy card this move does 10 damage plus 80 more damage if Seaking was healed during this turn. Seaking's next move is called Reckless Charge, for one colorless energy card this move does 40 damage, however it does do 10 damage to itself.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Seaking is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Goldeen into play (I reviewed Goldeen from this set yesterday) and then evolve Goldeen into Seaking. If you read yesterday's review of Goldeen, you'll know that I thought that card was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a good HP and could do 20 damage a turn, however it also did 10 damage to itself each turn, meaning its HP really isn't that good and especially later in games this card will get knocked out pretty fast. So knowing this about Goldeen and looking at this Seaking card, the first type of strategy that jumps out at me with this card is to evolve this line on the bench and use a card in your deck that does damage to all Pokemon in play or your benched Pokemon, that way Seaking is going to have damage on it when you move it to the active Pokemon spot and you can use a Potion card to heal it and do 90 damage a turn when using Soaking Horn. Of course you could also alternate between Reckless Charge and Soaking Horn and do 65 damage a turn on average. But overall, you really can't beat doing this much damage every turn for only one energy card, so I would highly recommend using this line in a water type deck.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set. This card really doesn't have any negatives about it, it has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two great moves that work very well together and do a good amount of damage. Like I said above, I would definitely recommend using this line in a water type deck, and would give the two cards combined a 4 out of 5 rating.
