Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Medicham from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set. This is the second of two Medicham cards I've reviewed on my blog. Medicham is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This Medicham card does not have an Ability but it does have an Ancient Trait called Barrage that says Medicham may attack twice if the first attack knocks out the defending Pokemon. Besides the Ancient Trait, Medicham has two moves. The first move that this card has is called Calm Mind, for one colorless energy card this move heals 30 damage from itself. Medicham's second move is called Yoga Kick, for two fighting energy cards this move does 30 damage.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Medicham is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Meditite into play (I reviewed Meditite from this set two days ago) and then evolve Meditite into Medicham, there are actually two Medicham cards from this set, and I'll be comparing both of them at the end of this section. If you read my review of Meditite, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card, other than having a little lower HP than I'd like, I thought the card was very solid, it could do 20 damage per turn for only one energy card. So knowing this about Meditite and looking at this specific Medicham card, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, the main reason I say this is because you can do twice as much damage for only two energy cards if you use the other Medicham card from this set. So unless you really like the Barrage Ancient Trait, I would not use this card in a deck. This card isn't poor by any means, but it just isn't as good as the other Medicham card from this set.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set. Like I said above, I like the other Medicham card from this set much better, but this card is still pretty good overall. It has an average HP, low retreat cost, and two moves that both are at least average. But overall, only being able to do 30 damage a turn does make this card somewhat limited and later in games 30 damage just won't cut it. So if you pair this Medicham card with Meditite from this set, I would give them a 3 out of 5 rating, definitely use the other Medicham from this set.

Hey PTP! I believe you read the card wrong. Omega Barrage allows Medicham to always attack twice, not just if it knocks out a pokemon the first time. This makes the card substantially better.
ReplyDeleteI thought just the same thing...
