Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pumpkaboo from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set. Pumpkaboo is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 60. It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Pumpkaboo does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Ram, this move requires one psychic energy card to use and does 10 damage. Pumkaboo's second move is called Night March, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 20 damage times the number of Pokemon in your discard pile that have this move on them.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Pumpkaboo is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Gourgeist, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon. However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution. So, on its own I would not recommend using this card in a deck unless you use it with other Pokemon that have the Night March attack like Lampent from this set. I would then include up to 4 of these in a deck and use them as starter Pokemon and if a couple were knocked out, I would then put Lampent into the active Pokemon spot and be able to use its Night March attack before evolving it into Chandelure. If you aren't using this card with other cards that have Night March on them, do not use this card on its own in a deck. Even though it has an average HP, two moves, and can attack for only one energy card, there is no purpose in having to put two energy cards on Pumpkaboo just to retreat it.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Gourgeist, this card is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set. Without using other Pokemon with Night March, this card is extremely limited and forces you to put more energy cards on it than needed just to retreat it. So if you don't use this card with Lampent for example and don't plan on evolving it, do not bother using this card in a deck.
