Whimsicott -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Whimsicott Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Whimsicott from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Whimsicott is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Whimsicott does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, its first move is called Fluffy Tag, this move requires one colorless energy card and says that you must switch Whimsicott with one of your benched Pokemon, then the next turn when that Pokemon attacks, each of its moves does 40 more damage.  Whimsicott's second move is called Stun Spore and for one grass energy card this move does 20 damage and paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Whimsicott is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Cottonee into play (I reviewed Cottonee from this set yesterday) and then evolve Cottonee into Whimsicott.  If you read yesterday's review, I would not recommend using Cottonee on its own or putting it into the active Pokemon spot before evolving it into Whimsicott because Cottonee only has 50 hp and can only do 10 damage.  When you do get Whimsicott into the active Pokemon spot I would suggest using Stun Spore every turn since it is the only move that can do damage immediately.  While Whimsicott is in the active Pokemon spot I would try setting up another card in my deck that has a high hp and can do a good amount of damage, then just before Whimsicott is knocked out, I would use Fluffy Tag and move that Pokemon on your bench you just set up into the active Pokemon spot, if it has a high hp it should easily be able to endure the damage done from the defending Pokemon and next turn do 40 more damage when it attacks, and if that Pokemon already does 100 damage every turn like some cards from this set do, this move would do 140 damage in one turn and knock out most Pokemon in one move.  After saying this, I would not use Whimsicott in any deck I would build, for one this card is slightly below average and only aids other Pokemon it doesn't do anything itself, and secondly Cottonee isn't very good, so I would not waste a spot in my deck for two or three cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average stage 1 Pokemon card.  This card does have a good retreat cost, and is very quick only requiring one energy card, however since Cottonee is weak, and this card isn't very powerful I would not use either of them in a deck.  I would rather do a good amount of damage with the active Pokemon then have to waste a turn using Whimsicott's Fluffy Tag move to do damage.  So again, I do not recommend using this card, individually this card is a 2/5 but I would give the line of Cottonee and Whimsicott and 1/5.
