Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Walrein from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set. Walrein is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140. Walrein is the stage 2 evolution of Sealeo, and before that Spheal, both of those Pokemon I have reviewed the past couple of days, and both of those Pokemon are in this set. Walrein has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost. Walrein does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Aurora Beam which requires three energy cards, two colorless and one water, and does 80 damage. Walrein's second move is called Ice Entomb and for four energy cards, two each of water and colorless, this moves does 60 damage plus paralyzes the defending Pokemon, however you can only use this move once every other turn.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Walrein is a stage 2 Pokemon, I would recommend evolving Spheal into Sealeo and Sealeo into Walrein on the bench, once you get three energy cards attached to Walrein I would move it into the active Pokemon spot and use Aurora Beam every turn, unless the defending Pokemon had more than 160 hp or Walrein would be knocked out during the next turn, then I would use Ice Entomb instead of Aurora Beam. Since Walrein is quite slow, you'll have to set it up the bench like I mentioned, because of this slowness I wouldn't use that many Pokemon from this line in a deck, I would only use a 3-2-1 line of Spheal, Sealeo, and Walrein in a water type deck.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. To me, this is a pretty average Pokemon card, it has some positives and negatives which balance out to make this card very average. Walrein has a decent hp but terribly high retreat cost, Aurora Beam is a good move, however Ice Entomb requires too many energy cards to do less damage than a move that does more damage for less energy cards. So overall this is an average card that could work in a water type deck.

ReplyDeleteUrrrghhh I sat here refreshing to get the codes and they're already redeemed! Dx
ReplyDeleteprimetime pokemon, ice entomb PARALYZES so its like an extra 60 damage. you would never put a 3-2-1 line of pokemon in a deck with rare candy. hmm, this could make an interesting deck with darkrai ex (retreat to a fresh walrein and use ice entomb.

ReplyDeleteakhil that is a could strategy to use with free reatrat of darkai you can paralyze each turn 3-2-3 line i would suggest, cool site this is :P can`t get those codes in time damm, ohh well, you put like a section of related deck for each card i think
ReplyDeleteGerman Nadal that is the strategy i was thinking of. 2-3 walrein in play with a dark and enough energy for ice entomb would be huge (if darkrai ex is in play).
ReplyDeletejust me or the first code are INVALID?
