I want to do something like a Pokemon Card of the Day quite often during the week whenever I get time, depending on how much I know about the card I will analyze the card. Cards like this one, which is older and is an absolute classic I will more than likely be posting personal experience with this card, so here goes nothing:This Charizard Base Set 2 card was the card to have when I started collecting Pokemon cards in the late 90's. I think I was in about 5th grade when I first really starting collecting and I never did end up pulling this Charizard or getting it in a trade from anyone. The only reason I have one now is my youngest brother sold all his cards to me and he had a Charizard in mint condition in his collection which I have no idea where he got. I could have had a chance at a Base Set 2 Charizard, I was at Walmart a long time ago and they had this packages with 4 booster packs in them for $2.97, they were really cheap, but I didn't have much money back then so I was going to buy 3 of the packs, but then I decided I wanted to save a little bit of my money so I gave the pack I didn't want to my brother so he could buy it for himself, and when we got home he pulled a Charizard out of that pack, I was pretty jealous. And no matter how many packs I opened after that I never got a Charizard. Maybe I should buy a Base Set 2 booster box sometime, so I can get a Charizard of my own. Back in the day when this card first came out I wasn't into battling at all but I thought the card was pretty cool because it had fire spin which did 100 damage and the hp was 120, I don't even have to look at the card to know what it's hp was, it just stood out in my mind because it was so powerful at the time, compared to nowadays it isn't that good, but it was a great card. Now that this card has been remade in Stormfront I actually think I like the new artwork better, but I can save that card for another time. I hope you like my first Pokemon Card review/personal story. Comment on what you think about this, or if you have any fun stories relating to this card. i remember trading 7 rares (5 holos)and 40 other cards for this card alone. i wanted it so bad i was willing to do anything for it hhaha. has that ever happen to u prime? where u wanted a card so bad u were willing to do anything for one?
ReplyDeleteI live in Sweden, and all the kids in my neighborhood had this competition of who could throw a pokemon card at the longest distance, it was really long ago. So basically the kid who threw the card at a longer distance, won all the other kids' pokemon cards. So I thought the more hp and the more shiny and valuable the card was, the longer I would throw it. So yeah, I had this charizard, and I think you know what happened then. I threw it and lost it. After that day I haven't seen that card in real life. that day sucked my balls.

ReplyDeleteI have never given someone a bunch of cards for one card, but I had a Blastoise a long time ago and someone traded me a bunch of cards including an Alakazam holo for it.

That would be terrible, the things we did when we were kids lol.
nice, alakazam has always been one of my fave pokemon along with Meganium. i loved the old school alakazam card and how it can manipulate damage counters. I wanted a dark alakazam but never got my hands on one unfortunatly, these days i buy a lot of Rising Rivals trying to get Alakazam Lvl X but no luck so far :(

ReplyDeleteI think I have around 10,000 total cards, but I really haven't counted them ever, I'm just guessing and I wouldn't know what to do without the Walmart in my town selling Pokemon cards.
I remember I had traded for a Charizard (Base Set) back when only Base Set was out. Then later that year I went with my friend to a TCG tournament where he got annihilated in the first round because he forgot to put his Electabuzz on the bench and I got to the Final 4. So he was already pretty down and we decided to each buy a pack. He ended up pulling a Pokemon Breeder and looked at this point like he was about to cry. So I opened my pack, and guess what, there's a Charizard. My day seriously couldn't have gotten any better. My friend didn't have a Charizard at all, and since I now had 2, I traded him my old one for like 5 of his holos. Looking back, I should have just gave it to him for 1 card I needed or something, but he was still pretty happy regardless because in the end he left with the elusive Charizard.

ReplyDeleteWOW thats a lot of cards...i have around 1500 mostly from when i was younger only about 20 from recent years. Its crazy one day i go out to walmart and they have a whole wall of cards and then the next day nada. and it sucks because i just started getting back into pokemon...thanks to your videos on youtube...
I HAVE LIKE 27 CARDS :3... hahaha XD i plan to start TCG mind, kinda did that ash thing, and only got my rare(ish) ones left o-o remeber when i was little, never wanted one, i wanted a zangoose, sad thing was he had'nt been invented yet

ReplyDeleteI remember wen i waz like 8 or 9 (im 15 now) i bought a couple booster packs and got a nidoking from a pack so i went to my cousins house to show it of he waz soo jelouse that he traded me this Charizardfor the Nidoking and i still have it after all these yrs.(its in horrible condition now though)

ReplyDelete4 years-ish I decided to buy a base set 2 booster pack for 30 dollars on amazon and when I received it, I messed up the card trick and got Charizard! Was super happy, and is still in my collection.
