Passimian -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Passimian from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Passimian is a Basic, Fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 110.  Passimian has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Punch, for two Colorless Energy cards, this move does 30 damage.  The second move on this card is called Intentional Grounding, for two Fighting Energy cards, this move does 90 damage, however, you must discard a Pokemon Tool card from your hand to use this move, if you can't, this move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Passimian is a Basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Passimian.  With this being said, unless you're building a deck that is chalk full of Pokemon Tool cards, potentially if you're using a Garbodor deck, this card probably isn't the best to use in a deck.  Ideally, you'd put two Strong Energy on this card, and then be able to do 130 damage for two Energy cards, as long as you can discard a Pokemon Tool card from your hand when attacking.  Although Punch requires just one Double Colorless Energy, 30 damage isn't enough to warrant use.  So while this card has potentially as a very strong attacker, I don't think it is worth it to have to discard a Pokemon Tool every time when you're trying to do damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average to slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I stated above, although this card can pack a punch when set up correctly, it is too risky to use since it depends on Pokemon Tool cards, plus, you want to attach things like Choice Band and Float Stone Trainer cards to your Pokemon, you don't want to have to discard them.

Mudsdale -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mudsdale from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Mudsdale is a Stage 1, Fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 130. It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Kick Away, for three Colorless Energy cards, this move does 60 damage, plus, your opponent must then switch their Active Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon.  The second move on this card is called Vigorous Death, for four Energy cards, one Fighting and three Colorless, this move does 130 damage, however the move does 30 damage to Mudsdale, but it does do 30 damage to one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon too.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Mudsdale is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Mudbray into play (I reviewed Mudbray from this set yesterday) and then evolve Mudbray into Mudsdale.  If you read yesterday's review of Mudbray, you'll know that it was a well below average Basic Pokemon card.  The card did have a somewhat high HP, but it had a high retreat cost, and only one move, a move that required two Energy cards to use, and only did 20 base damage.  So knowing this about Mudbray and looking at this Mudsdale card, this card follows the same pattern, 130 HP is high for a Stage 1 Pokemon, but neither move on this card is very good, both are slow to set up, and although Vigorous Death does do a lot of damage when it is set up, doing 30 damage to Mudsdale is a major turn off for using this card.  The only scenario I could see for using this card would be in a spread attack type deck, since Kick Away essentially does this, the downfall being your opponent gets to choose the new Pokemon to put in the Active Pokemon spot every turn.  Vigorous Death does a great amount of damage, but requiring 3 or 4 Energy cards to use is too much, meaning if this card is knocked out, and you don't have something like a Wishful Baton Item attached to it, those Energy cards are gone.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I stated above, this card does have an above average HP for a Stage 1 Pokemon and two moves that both do a fair amount of damage, but overall, this card is too slow to set up and requires too many Energy cards to attack.  Combined with Mudbray from this set, I would give both cards a 2 out of 5 rating, look elsewhere when deck building.

Mudbray -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mudbray from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Mudbray is a Basic, Fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move on this card is called Stomp, for two Energy cards, one each of Fighting and Colorless, this move does 20 damage, plus, if you get a heads when flipping a coin, the move does an additional 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Mudbray is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Mudsdale, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, there isn't much use for this card in a deck, mainly because it is slow on the attack, and even if you're able to flip a heads when attacking, 40 damage for two Energy cards isn't much.  There are plenty of better Basic, Fighting type Pokemon out there to use for your deck.  If you are forced to use this card in your deck, Burning Energy, and Regirock EX are two ways to increase the amount of damage when attacking with Mudbray.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Mudsdale, this is a well below average Basic Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Sure, as a Basic Pokemon with a Stage 1 evolution, 80 HP is above average, but with the slow attack cost on this card and the higher retreat cost, there is no reason to waste two Energy cards on this card to only do a maximum of 40 damage per turn.  Look elsewhere when building a Fighting type deck.

Lycanroc #76/147 -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lycanroc from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  This the second of three different Lycanroc cards that I'll be reviewing from the Burning Shadows set.  Lycanroc is a Stage 1, Fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Rock Throw, for two Energy cards, one each of Fighting and Colorless, this move does 30 damage.  Lycanroc's second move is called Accelerock, for three Energy cards, two Fighting and one Colorless, this move does 100 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lycanroc is a Stage 1 Pokemon with a Basic evolution form in Rockruff, you'll have to use Rockruff in your deck if you want to use Lycanroc.  There is not a Rockruff in this set, I would recommend using the one from the Sun & Moon 1-Pack Blisters.  Comparing this Lycanroc card to the one I reviewed yesterday, even though this card can do more damage when attacking with three Energy cards, I like yesterday's card better, mainly because it can do more damage quicker, and especially against Basic Pokemon, like a majority of EX and GX cards.  If you have the patience to put three Energy cards on Lycanroc or if you're using 4 Max Elixir in your deck, being able to do 100 damage per turn with Accelerock is pretty good, but it is too slow of a move for my liking.  So again, if you're using Lycanroc GX in your deck and want to add in a Lycanroc, in case you're facing a deck that prevents GX cards from attacking, go with yesterday's card over this one.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I mentioned above, I like yesterday's Lycanroc card better than this one.  On the whole, these two Lycanroc cards are similar, same HP, retreat cost, weakness, and number of moves, but being able to do 60+ damage for one Energy card against Basic Pokemon is a huge advantage in my opinion.
