Malamar EX -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Malamar EX Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Malamar EX and Malamar EX Full Art from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Malamar EX is a basic, EX, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 170. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Malamar's Ability is called Hyper Hypnosis, this ability makes the defending Pokemon go to sleep anytime any energy card is attached to Malamar EX.  Besides the Ability, Malamar just has one move called MAXamar, this move requires two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless, and does 60 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin for each energy card attached to this Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Malamar EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  So knowing this about Malamar EX, I would really only use one of these cards in a deck since it requires quite a few energy cards to make sure this card does damage.  So I would include one of these in a deck, keep it on the bench for awhile putting the defending Pokemon to sleep each time you attach an energy card to Malamar, I would get 4 energy cards on Malamar before moving it to the active Pokemon spot, I would then attack a Trick Coin tool card to Malamar and use MAXamar, that way you have a good shot of flipping a majority heads.  The main reason I would only use one of these in a deck is because its only move is based on coin flips and this doesn't bode well for a card that gives your opponent two prize cards if it is knocked out.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic, EX Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  This card can definitely pack a punch, that is if you flip several heads.  That is the main reason I'm giving this card an average rating because of this.  Other than that, Malamar's Ability is quite good, and I may even think about using this card just for its Ability if I could find away to move energy cards from Malamar to one of my other Pokemon in play.
